Details
This 5.56x45 ammunition is made by Australian Defense Industries (which is currently known as Thales Australia). They are a major ammo supplier to the Australian Defence Force, and their 5.56 works just as well in M4 carbines and AR-15 rifles as it does in Australia’s F88 Austeyr.
This is F1 ammunition, which is identical in form and function to America’s M855 cartridge (aka SS109 in Europe). That means each round sports a 62 grain bullet, which is clad in a full metal jacket for optimal functionality in semi-automatic firearms. The bullet’s core is made of two components: a lead rear and a front steel tip. Known as a “penetrator,” that hard tip is the reason for the F1 bullet’s heightened ability to pass through as tough as sheet metal. Like the M855, the F1 bullet is magnetic. (It hasn’t got green paint to evince this fact.)
ADI loads their ammo just like we do: with non-corrosive Boxer primers and new brass cases. You will notice discoloration around the brass cases’ necks – that is a byproduct of the annealing process which makes brass more durable.
This ammunition is packaged in four plastic bags inside of a brand new military-spec steel ammo can. Whether you’re building up a nice little stockpile or just wouldn’t mind having a rugged, water-resistant ammo can, then this big load of ammo belongs at your home and not in our warehouse!
