Details

This 9mm ammo by Federal was created for law-enforcement and is available to the public due to a government contract overrun. Each 9mm round is loaded with a 115 grain JHP bullet. This light weight results in a fast bullet with muzzle velocity of 1225 feet per second.

This JHP bullet may not have all of the advanced technologies of Federal's HST line, but it has proven to be an effective round for self-defense and is used by many law-enforcement agencies around the country.

Federal has created a high quality, but still affordable round with this 9mm ammo. You can trust this ammo for self-defense, but it is also affordable enough that you can take it to the range for some practice sessions without breaking the bank.

A: JHP (jacketed hollow point) bullets have an opening at the front of the bullet that promotes accuracy and expansion in soft tissue or other fluid mediums. Full metal jacket (FMJ) bullets feature a copper jacket over the entire front and sides of the bullet, and are designed with economical manufacture in mind. JHP bullets are a little more complicated to make than FMJ, and are suitable for more purposes than FMJ, which is essentially limited to range use.
