1000 Rounds of .40 S&W Ammo by MBI - 180gr FMJ

Good ammo for the price. Put about 200 rounds through a Glock with no issues. Ran 600 rounds of it through Beretta 96fs at a few matches. Had a few failures to feed, but I believe that was more attributed to running a really dirty gun. It does seem to be more dirty then some other ammo. I sometimes feel “grains” hitting my hands when I crowd cover. I have been recommending it to others on the range, as we don’t always have time to reload. Overall good ammo and great price. You can’t beat the snappiness and speed of a .40 in a steel framed gun. Now onto matching that speed with accuracy with this ammo on my next 2000 round run. I have purchased over 4k rounds of this ammo and have fired all of it without one incident. I would have to say that for as much as I shoot and the time I spend at the range this ammo is good. I have several handguns in many calibers and my 40 and my 9 are my most carried. I would recommend this ammo for targets and practice but I carry other ammo when im on the street. nuff said..... This is the only brand of ammo that has ever jammed my Glock 23. About 1 in 10 rounds. Perhaps it was just a bad batch as I am seeing others reviews are better. (Posted on 2/14/2014)

At the time I bought the 1000 rounds this was about all I could find at a decent price. Well I am here to tell you I have cycled 500 rounds through my S&W MP40 and I have one round that did not fire. I will take that any time. I read about shipment issues with this ammo and I have to say my 1000 rounds arrived perfectly. Not one of the 10 bags was broken. This is as good as anything I have ever bought and it groups just fine on the range. Let’s face it is practice ammo; I am not trying to shoot Nation Match with it. (Posted on 7/23/2013)

Purchased a total of 10,000 MBI rounds. I opened the first bag to begin filling magazines and noticed a single steel casing in with 99 brass casings. Fortunately I'm curious and I picked it up because I saw that the side of the casing was burned completely through all the way down to within a hair's width of the bottom of the projectile. If I had fired the bullet it would have exploded in the chamber and certainly caused me injury. I called Bulkammo to report it and looked carefully for any other steel casings in the other bags from that box.
The next day at the range I was firing these bullets and they seemed fine, no failures in the first 4-5 magazines.
Then I fired a round, the shell ejected perfectly and I squeezed the trigger to fire again. Click. I thought I had a dud, looked at my Glock22 Gen4 and see the slide is not fully forward. Dropped the magazine, ejected the faulty round and see that the casing was not even close to round. The edge of the casing caught as it left the magazine and the slide's momentum scraped and tore the brass out of place by 1/16" +/-.
Scared the hell out of me. Another bullet that would have exploded in the chamber if I had managed to hit it with the striker. My partner was shooting the same MBI rounds-I showed him what happened and we emptied every magazine right there to detail inspect each bullet. Right away I found a third casing that would have exploded. This one was missing a deep half moon of brass from the edge. It wasn't down deep enough for powder to escape but only by a hair.

We packed up and called it a day. I emailed customer service and got an immediate and concerned response. The issues I encountered are very strange and I offered to send multiple pictures of all 3 bullets. Once the photos were seen there was no hesitation, I was asked to return all 10,000 rounds. FedEx picked them up on Friday May 17th. Once MBI receives the shipment I will be offered a full refund or credit, whichever I choose.

Summary-3 dangerously defective casings in the first 200 rounds. The 100+ rounds I fired were just fine but I didn't want to lose my hand, or worse, due to an exploding shell.
This must be an anomaly. MBI is aware of it and I hope they can locate the cause and fix it ASAP.

Despite overboxing, 9 of 10 bags were broken and spilled inside the box. 1000 rounds is probably too heavy for the air-filled 100 round bags of ammo. The packaging would be better off not pressurising individual bags and wrapping with bubble wrap. Not a big deal for me since I was going to dump them in a 50 cal can anyhow. No duds or extraction problems so far in my xdm 5.25. Will buy again. (Posted on 1/13/2013)

Bought 1000 rounds of 40 cal S&W and fired about 275 rounds in one sitting, my Glock G22 ran the ammo with no jams or misfires. Very accurate. Really impressed. It shot as good as my reloads. (Posted on 7/21/2012)

Bought a G22 Glock and upgraded the barrel to a Lone Wolf.
One out of every 10 will feed properly. Won't chamber. Researched
It and found out that L.W. barrels are tighter than the stock. Not that
it is bad but the reloads flare out about three quarters to the end

Best price per round that you will find that isn't a major brand. The biggest issue which is now on the site is that this is reloaded or remanufactured ammo. Now, everything in the ammo is new minus the brass. I've counted atleast 5 different manufacures of brass in my packs.

It shoots straight but was extremely dirty in my XD(M) 40 S&W. But i did put 400 rounds through it with only minor cleanings at the range.. But my full cleaning took some time as it should.
