The excellent design for hunting of the Fusion line from Federal Ammunition proves the innovation that is still coming out of the R&D team. The innovations and changes are seemingly subtle, but they are legitimate. They are also very in-line with keeping ammunition costs lower instead of moving to all new tooling to produce something that consumers may not eventually like.

This is a 62 grain skived, copper jacketed projectile, that has the copper jacket plated onto the lead core with an electrochemical process that ensures there is no jacket separation. This is a revolutionary way to attach a jacket and it favors high weight retention in a lead core bullet. Along with the great weight retention is the potential for deformation with the skived top and the unibody “shell” of the copper plating. This precise deformation and the weight retention work in harmony to deliver the most impact on target.

This type of performance is almost necessary on moderately sized game with a bullet projectile that is so low. Sure, it’s a larger projectile for the .223 Remington, but it’s still small for bigger game.
